Hello!
I've downloaded your PacketMonitor. It looks great :) But, it seems that when I monitor traffic from/to the machine that runs the program, it misses packages sent from this machine, Do you know anything about this?
Best regards,

Yes, I've noticed that too. Frankly, I think it's because the application is too slow that it cannot follow the packet rate.
Basically what it does is
1. wait for packet to intercept
2. update GUI
3. return to 1
If a packet is sent while the program is updating the GUI, the packet will not be intercepted and it won't show up in the list.
To decrease the number of misses, try enhancing the GUI to make it a bit faster [for instance, get rid of the listbox] or implement some filters in order to reduce the number of packets that have to be shown in the GUI. |

Hi
For what it is worth, I have seen exactly the same problem that you describe with another packet monitor (Ethereal on a W2K machine). In this case the monitor worked perfectly, the problem was bought on by my installing some additional software on to the machine in question. Unfortunately I was never able to find out what software caused Ethereal to break. It just seems a little suspicious that the same issue crops up in two different packet monitors. Perhaps there a more fundamental problem than application speed?
NB: I believe the Windows version of Ethereal uses WinPcap (http://winpcap.polito.it/) to snoop the traffic off the wire.
